Lunch Bunch, Tuesday September 11, 2012

On this sunny, beautiful day, we had 22 classmates and friends at our lunch.

IN REMEMBRANCE

SEPTEMBER 11, 2001

WE WILL NEVER FORGET

On September 4, 2002, President Bush used his authority created by the resolution from Congress, and proclaimed September 11, 2002 as Patriot Day.

On this day, the President requests that the American flag be flown at half-staff at individual American homes, at the White House, and on all U.S. government buildings and establishments, home and abroad. The President also asks Americans to observe a moment of silence beginning at 8:46 A.M. (Eastern Daylight Time), the time the first plane struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center on September 11.  Most of us refer to this day as just 9/11.  Some do not even know that this day of the worst terrorist attack on American soil was proclaimed as Patriot Day.

We will never forget this day, nor will we forget the heroes on this day, the loved ones that were lost, and continue to pray for all of the families who have suffered loss of a family member or friend on this day.

The "boys" (Tom Hale and Carl Factor) did not show up for lunch today.  That is because I can't read, and didn't notice in Tom's E-mail that he specifically said they would be at the October lunch.  Barb was upset that she could not make it today to see the boys.  So now she will need to plan ahead and see them in October.

Gwen Curry said the blessing for us.

Gerald and Gwen both said there was no business to be brought up today.

Sandy Tuttle Adams shared with us that her husband, David Lee Adam's, passed away on June 7.  Our condolences go out to the Adams family for their loss.

Maryanna Fenton said she did well with her hip replacement.  She now has two replaced knees as well as her hip.

Martha Pettry shared with me that the book "On the Island" by Tracy Garvis Gaves is an excellent read.  My latest good read between the trilogy "Fifty Shades of Grey" was "Cutting for Stone" by Abraham Verghese.

We spent lots of time sharing and chatting until around 2 PM.

I hope to see all of you next month on Tuesday October 9, at the Golden Corral at 11:30.
