LUNCH BUNCH, Tuesday October 9, 2012

On this beautiful fall day, we had at least 29 classmates and friends at our lunch.  We could see the beautiful changes in the leaves on our drive from Westerville to Zanesville.  The air was crisp, and there were red, yellow, orange, gold and green leaves everywhere with lots of them slowly drifting to the ground.  Soon it will be winter, so let us enjoy autumn while we can!

Today we had two out of state classmates with their wives attending the lunch.  Carl and Becky Factor drove eight hours from Westfield, NJ to our lunch today.  Tom and Mary Ellen Hale drove about 5 1/2 hours from Shelby Twnp. MI.  We thank all of them for making the effort to get back and visit with us today.  We had a great time reminiscing with all of them.

Tom took pictures which he will put on our WEB site when he arrives back home.  Thanks to him for the pictures, and for all the work he does being our WEB Master.

Bill Rushay and Cornelia Ferguson shared giving the blessing today.  Thanks to both of them.

Since Gwen Curry and Gerald Roberts did not attend today, we had no business.

Chuck and Sue Gause were present today, and Chuck is seeing well since his cataract surgery without his usual glasses!

It was nice to see Roger McGlade today.  His lovely daughter, who is visiting from Tucson, AZ, joined us at Tom's Ice Cream Bowl after the lunch.

Sondra Hickman Philip came to the lunch today for the first time this year.  She has had both her knees replaced four months apart and says she feels like a 21 year old again!  Way to go Sondra!

Barbara Williamson came to the lunch for the first time this year also.  She had four new tires, and a tune-up on her car, and Carl Factor said he would buy her a free ice cream at Tom's if she would be at the lunch.  True to his word, she got a free chocolate soda!

It has been a while since Carolyn Stiers Lanning has been to a lunch since she has had shingles.  She said they were around her eyes, and over her face.  She states she still has some, but is feeling much better.  If any of you have not had shingles, please check with your doctor to see if you are a candidate to get the vaccine like Carl, Becky, and Martin and I did.  It is miserable to have shingles!

After chatting until around 1:40 PM, about fourteen of us went to Tom's Ice Cream Bowl for more stories, ice cream, and came home to cherish all our happy moments.  They make a fine cushion for old age!

Since when did sitting down on our porch, sipping a glass of lemonade or iced tea, letting the children run around the yard playing tag or hide and seek, and relaxing while you wave at your neighbors as they return home become a bad thing?  We don't see that much any more, but I remember it well as a child and while I was raising my children!  Everyone is so busy now with their electronics, that people don't get the relaxation they need and we don't see children outside like we used to see.

I hope to see all of you next month at the Golden Corral on Tuesday, November 13 at 11:30 AM.
