LUNCH BUNCH, November 12, 2013

What a beautiful wintry day!  The early northwestern snow blew in leaving the trees glistening, sparkling, and beautiful with the white 1.2 inches of white snow.  When we arrived at the VFW, the big rose bush was full of bright red rose buds, and some roses completely open with the white snow sparkling on them!

We had 17 at our lunch today.

Today we voted on where we would hold our lunches in 2014.  We voted on:

1.  VFW

2.  Bryan Place

3.  Pizza Cottage

4.  Golden Corral

The Golden Corral won with a unanimous vote.  The VFW came in second place.  So we will call and see if we can still have the room at the Golden Corral starting in January.

Sonnie Philip announced that she had made reservations for our Christmas Party to be held at the VFW on December 10 at 11:30 AM.  You will need to make reservations.  Please E-mail Martha K. Cannon at or call her and leave a message at 614-890-9948.  The price is $14 plus a minimum of $3.00 gratuity to be taken up after the meal.  Sue Richardson will get the cake for us.  You will have a choice of chicken or baked steak.  Please bring a non-perishable item to put under the Christmas tree for The Hunger Network.  Santa will arrive to check and see if you have been "good or bad."

Pat and Jim Burkhart will be leaving for Florida on January 20 for a two month stay.

Jean Ross had her second total knee replacement on October 22.  I talked with her today and she said she is not doing well with the rehab.  Positive thoughts and prayers are being sent her way.

Chuck Pettry had a total knee replacement yesterday in New Albany.  He has had TKR on both knees twice now!  Go Chuck!

Gerald had a fall at his grandson's football game.  Actually, he passed out.  I talked with him today and he is doing so, so.  He was not injured when he fell.  His brother is still staying with him.

Forest Gus is still fighting his cancer.  Please keep him in your prayers as well as all the above.

Linda Warne wrote a beautiful tribute for our mini-reunion for the WEB site.  Please check it out under news if you have not already.  Thank you, Linda

The reunion was a huge success.  Everyone had a great time visiting and catching up.  A big thank you to Gerald Roberts and the entire committee for all the work they contributed.  Also thanks to Kinsey Tanner for the blessing and making announcements.

Thanks to John Power for buying a class tree to be planted on the hill where our old high school stood in honor of our class with part of the $400 going for a plaque and the rest going for scholarships for a high school student.  This is a living tribute for our class.  You can make a small contribution to John if you want to be part of this.

Thanks to Doug Palmer for bringing discount coupons for each of his classmates for a cruise or a fun trip with his travel agency.

Have a blessed and happy Thanksgiving.  "As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them." .. John Fitzgerald Kennedy

What we are really talking about is a wonderful day set aside on the fourth Thursday of November when no one diets and families are all together counting their blessings.  I mean, why else would they call it Thanksgiving?  No one diets on Thanksgiving.  ~Erma Bombeck
