LUNCH BUNCH, Tuesday, 11/13/2012

Thank you for your service United States of America Veterans!

We had 17 classmates and friends attend our lunch today.

Please note near the bottom of the notes that our Christmas Party location has been changed.

Nearly two weeks after Superstorm Sandy pummeled the northeast, more than 200,000 in the region are still without power.

Tom Hale, Donna Swope, and Bill Factor are among those who have been trying to contact Carl and Becky who live in Westfield, NJ.  Today Tom got an E-mail from their son, Clint.  See below.

Yes Mr. Hale. They are good. They were w/o power for 12 days. Numerous trees and power lines down all over their street. I believe their phone and cable are still out. I will tell them you were asking for them. Thank you for your concern.

We are thankful to hear they are safe.  Please keep all the people on the East Coast in your prayers I'm certain we will be hearing stories from Carl and Becky in the future regarding this Superstorm Sandy!

Bill Factor reported to us regarding the mission that ten people from his church worked on in Joplin, Mo.  Bill and his team worked on rebuilding homes!

The tornado that hit Joplin, Mo., 1 and 1/2 years ago took 161 lives, injured hundreds more and destroyed thousands of homes and buildings. It also fractured the landscape of the city and opened the door to a massive rebuilding and recovery operation.

A year later, much of the debris has been cleared and damaged homes wiped from their foundations. Some have been rebuilt, some never will be. Around the community, the devastation from a year and half ago has been replaced with plans to rebuild, renovate and recover.

Thanks to Bill and his team for the work they are doing!

Bill gave the blessing today for us.  Thank you Bill Factor.

We all had a delicious meal.

It was reported that Gerald Roberts will be having a lung biopsy this Friday at OSU Hospital.  He is using oxygen at night, and he is hopeful they will find what his problem is to help him start feeling better.  Please keep him in your prayers.

LOCATION OF CHRISTMAS LUNCH:  We will meet on Tuesday December 11 at the VFW on Moxahala Ave at 11:30.  We will plan on eating at 12 PM.  Moxahala runs parallel to Putnam Ave.  It is located on the East (river) side of Putnam.  Please bring canned goods or a monetary gift to be donated to a church food pantry for Santa to collect if his busy schedule allows him to be with us.  If Santa can't make it, his elves are always available.  We will have baked steak, and chicken with side dishes and dessert.  Cost will be between $10 and $12.

Please E-mail me, Martha K. Cannon at martcannon@aol.com or call me and leave a message on my phone 614-890-9948 if you can make it.  We would love seeing some new faces.  All 17 attending the lunch today said they would be at the Christmas Lunch.

We are wishing everyone a peaceful and happy Thanksgiving.  "No matter what you've done for yourself or for humanity, if you can't look back on having given love and attention to your own family, what have you really accomplished. ~Elbert Hubbard
