LUNCH BUNCH, NOVEMBER 10, 2009

"I love the fall!  A few days ago I walked along the edge of a lake and was treated to the crunch and rustle of leaves with each step I made.   I love it because of the smells and also because things are dying, things that I don't have to take care of anymore, and the grass stops growing.  That makes me very happy.  We know in the Spring everything will come alive again."  ~ Mark Van Doren

On this cloudy fall day we had 22 meeting at the Golden Corral for lunch.

Those classmates to remember in our thoughts and prayers:  Jean Beale Ross had a knee replacement on October 20.  We hope she is doing well.  Donna Fulton Vanmeter had a knee replacement on October 22.  Donna Swope received an E-mail from her that she is doing well.

I was sorry to hear from Jane Caldwell that Roberta Cantwell Butcher's husband passed away on November 9.  Ronald Butcher's visiting hours will be today, November 10 from 5 PM to 8 PM at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home at 1271 Blue Ave in Zanesville.  The funeral will be tomorrow at the funeral home at 2 PM with burial in Frazeysburg.  We extend our sympathy to Roberta and the entire family.

It was nice seeing Anita Ropeter Coffey and her husband, Dick.  Also, Joann Cooper Patterson came with her 90 year old mother.  Sandy Tuttle came with her husband, Dave.  Sue and Chuck Gause stopped in to visit for a while before lunch.   Carolyn Stiers Lanning came to visit with us after we were finished with lunch.  Donna Smith Iden came with her husband, Mike.

We have heard from Santa that he will definitely arrive at our party on Tuesday, December 8 at 11:30 at Bryans Place.  It is located at 49 North Sixth Street (the old YWCA).  This requires a reservation for everyone.  So anyone wishing to come to our Christmas party, if you have not placed a reservation please call Gwen Curry.  Her phone numbers are: 740-453-3615 and her cell is 740-624-2221.  Please call Gwen no later than December 1.  The meal will cost approximately $18.00.  Remember to bring a white elephant gift from your home, or a $5.00 gift for Santa to have fun handing out.  Mark the gift if appropriate for a man or a woman.  Maryanna Fenton has made the final arrangements.  This will be a buffet with the main entrees being beef or chicken with all the trimmings.

Gwen Curry was kind enough to give the blessing again today.

After having lunch, in the absence of Gerald Roberts and Kinsey Tanner, Gwen had a brief meeting regarding the 2010 class reunion.  We voted on several places to have the reunion.  If any of you want to vote, please e-mail your preference to Martha K. Cannon at martcannon@aol.com or phone number 614-890-9948.  Today with those who voted, the Country Club came in first place, and Eaglesticks came in second place.  Also you may vote for K of C, Prophets Park Home of Amrou Grotto, Welcome Center, or the Muskingum Valley Conference Center.

If any of you wish to be on the reunion committee please call Kinsey Tanner at 740-453-5558.

I hope to see all of you next month at 11:30 at Bryans Place on Tuesday, December 8, 2009.

Forever on Thanksgiving Day the heart will find the pathway home.  On this particular day in America the concept of giving gratitude and thanks surfaces in almost every home.  This year, let us give thanks to our troops who are fighting to keep our country safe, and to the sacrifice their families are making.  Happy Thanksgiving to all of you.

Martha K. Cannon

ADDENDUM:  Please keep Kinsey Tanner's wife Marty in your thoughts and prayers as she is in a Columbus Hospital after having had a total hysterectomy on Monday.
