Lunch Bunch, March 14, 2017

This was a very cold, windy, blustery, and snowy day.  But the roads were perfectly clear from Westerville to Zanesville, and Bill and Marlene Rushay arrived from Columbus as well.  We had 13 classmates and friends today.

Tom and Mary Ellen Hale, and Becky and Carl Factor are coming to the May lunch.  We are looking forward to a big turnout.

Bill Factor brought roses for all the ladies today!   This is the week Rotary Club is selling them, and after delivering ours to us, Bill took a bunch to the hospital.  What a great guy, and he is our classmate!  Thanks, Bill.

Mike and Donna Iden brought a newspaper clipping about the Blue Devils greatness stretching back to 1955!  And there was a very large article in the paper with a picture of our 1955 basketball team saying this team worked together like a well oiled Swiss watch and when the alarm buzzed they discovered they had the right time once more....and has become the second team in ZHS history to enter the state tournament finals.  Those young men made the citizens of Zanesville Proud winning the State Tournament.

Donis Toler and Doug Palmer were selected to the all-tournament first team while Larry Crist and Rodger Humm were selected for the second team.  Toler was named to the third team all state squad.  Crist was given honorable mention.  Those were great and exciting times!  Thank you Mike and Donna for sharing the newspaper clipping in the paper the beginning of March of this year.

Classmate Margaret Robinson McNairy has been very busy.  She put together a display about the early years of Zanesville City Schools and did a presentation of it for the John McIntire Library and also agreed to share it with the Zanesville Alumni and community at the Zanesville Alumni Center.  Thank you, Margaret!

Remember that one kind word can warm three winter months!

I am looking forward to seeing all of you next month, April 11 at 11:30 am, at the Golden Corral.  Remember if the Zanesville City Schools are closed due to weather, we will not have lunch.

For each petal on the shamrock
This brings a wish your way -
Good health, good luck, and happiness
For today and every day.
