LUNCH BUNCH, March 11, 2014

"Spring passes and one remembers one's innocence.

Summer passes and one remembers one's exuberance.

Autumn passes and one remembers one's reverence.

Winter passes and one remembers one's perseverance."~Yoko Ono

"You can cut all the flowers, but you cannot keep Spring from coming."~Pablo Neruda

Today we had a beautiful sunny day, and a temperature of 67 degrees!  Our first full day of Spring is just around the corner arriving on 3/20/2014.  But tomorrow we will have a little bit more of winter just to keep us on our toes.

We had 23 classmates and friends at our lunch today.  When we passed Dillon Lake we noted that it is still covered with a lot of icy patches, and there was still snow in the wooded areas.

Gwen very kindly said the blessing for us today.

Mary Elizabeth Brown Hinkle arrived for the first time to our lunch.  Welcome Elizabeth.  We hope you will continue to attend.  Our sympathy goes out to her in the passing of her husband, Roy, in January.  There will be a Memorial Concert of his music in his honor in Reading, PA in June.

We were very happy to see Sonnie Philip at lunch today.  She is also going through the loss of her husband, Robert.  She said she and her little dog are doing fine.

Please keep Elizabeth, Sonnie and always Marty Tanner in your thoughts and prayers.  Marty has been fighting ovarian cancer for several years now and we are amazed at her upbeat attitude and grace under pressure.

We were also happy to see David Roberts today.  He is walking well with a cane after total knee replacement.  Keep up the good work, Dave!

Bill and Marlene Rushay attended today.  I just finished a book recommended by Marlene.  It is called "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer.  It is a fantastic book taking place right after World War II on the island of Guernsey that was occupied by Nazi Germany, and is a very fast read.  Try it and you will not be disappointed.  She recommended today "The Broker", by John Grisham, and said it is unlike any of his other books.  I am game to read this one too!

Martha Pettry had on a lovely patchwork quilt jacket today.  I asked her if she made it, and of course she had.  She said she made it many years ago.  We have so many talented people in our class!

Time has passed very quickly, and I noted that Tom Hale started our WEB site in 2006!  He is starting his 8th year as our WEB master.  Thank you Tom!

Go to our WEB site at www.zhs1955.com , click news, then click on What's New on the Website.  Check out  Fritzie's latest sculpture project for 2014!  She is always artistic, creative and working on something new.  Thank you, Fritzie.

Also click on additional Buckeye Lake Views to bring back a lot of good memories as well as photo updates on the Donna Swope Family, Tom Hale Family and Barb Williamson Family.

I will be looking forward to seeing all of you next Spring at the Golden Corral on 4/8/2014 at 11:30 AM.

Ask God's blessing on your work, but do not also ask Him to do it.~Waggerl
