January 14, 2014, Lunch Bunch

The snow is gone, and we had a beautiful, sunny, 45 degree day for our lunch.  We had 26 classmates and friends at our lunch.

Jerry Richardson very kindly gave the blessing today.  Thank you, Jerry.

We passed around a sympathy card to be signed for Mary Elizabeth Brown Hinkle as her husband, Roy, passed away last Tuesday.  Our sympathy and prayers go out to Elizabeth, and her family.  You may remember seeing both Mary Elizabeth and Roy at our mini-reunion on both Friday and Saturday evenings.  They had just recently moved to Pickerington, OH to be close to family.  Cards can be sent to 279 Fullers Circle, Pickerington, OH  43107.

Also Classmate Beverly Arlene Farabee passed away on 12/21/2013.  I noted in the obituary that Bev enjoyed playing fast pitch softball for 27 years!  She became quite skilled at the sport, and was inducted into the Women's National Softball Hall of Fame in 1989.  Our sympathy goes out to her family.

Bill Balderson, who is a year behind us, is at Riverside Hospital after suffering from a severe stroke.  Our prayers go out for healing to both Bill, his wife Kathy, and his family.

Kinsey Tanner reported that his wife, Marty, is on a new chemo which she has once a month.  She was excited to know that this chemo does not make her hair fall out.  She is upbeat and doing very well!  Thank you, Kinsey.

Lawrence (Butch) Howard, shared with us that his 57 y.o. son has kidney, and lung cancer, and it has now gone into the hip.  Our prayers for healing go out to him and his family.

David Roberts had total knee replacement last Thursday.  They are trying to find a rehab facility for him, and so far have been unable to locate one that is certified to give him a special injection that he needs every week.  Cards may be sent to his home at 230 Cohen Drive, Zanesville, OH 43701.  We are wishing him well.

Bill Factor gave us the results of the questionnaire for our 2015 reunion.  We voted to have the reunion on the first weekend of 2015, which is October 1, 2, and 3.  He noted that 90% of the votes were to have the reunion for three days.  He will confirm with the Zanesville Country Club that we will have our banquet there.  Friday and Sunday locations will be decided at a later date.  Thank you, Bill.

We sat and chatted until 2:15.  It was a very nice time.

We will meet again next month at the Golden Corral (unless the city schools are closed due to weather) at 11:30 on February 11, 2014.

An older gentleman was on the operating table awaiting surgery and he insisted

that his son, a renowned surgeon, perform the operation.  As he was about to get

the anesthesia, he asked to speak to his son.  "Yes, Dad, what is it?  "Don't be nervous, son; do your best, and just remember, if it doesn't go well, if something happens to me, your mother is going to come and live with you and your wife....."
