LUNCH BUNCH August 13, 2013

What a noisy, and rowdy group we were today!  Or maybe it was just all the other folks eating in the bar area!  That is where we met today at the VFW since they were short of help.  On this beautiful fall like day we had 23 classmates present.  It was 68 degrees when we left home, and 76 degrees on the way home with lots of sun.

Sue Squire Richardson brought York Mints for our dessert snack today!  Thank you, Sue!

Gwen has sent out the mini-mid-reunion notices to all of us which will take place on Saturday evening at 6 PM on October 12, at the VFW for $25.00 per person.  As always, we will have a Friday night social at 6:30 PM, which is free of charge with snack and deli foods available.  There will be a cash bar.  Both nights will be casual dress.  Thank you Gwen!  Jean Ross said she already has received several responses.  Thank you Jean for giving of your generous time and effort in being our treasure for the last 58 years!  Without the Zanesville Committee doing such a great job over the years, we would not have had such good turnouts.  Let's continue to be supportive of the entire committee who will be meeting once again on Thursday, August 22.

Cornelia and Bill are on vacation for one month in Chautauqua, New York.  They should be back in time for the September lunch.

Sue Richardson has had a total checkup and has been given a clean bill of health.  Her lung scan also came back negative.  We are all thankful for that!

We were sorry to learn that Dwight Long, our classmate, passed away.  We send our deepest sympathy to his family.

Sue Gause sent me an E-mail that she had a total knee replacement instead of a partial on August 5.  There was a lot more arthritis and damage that Dr. Foster noted after incising the knee.  Sue said she had a nice card from Carl before surgery.  Gotta love him!  Their daughter Lori was there to help August 2 through August 8.  While there she froze beef stew, lasagna, meatloaf, and cooked meals while there.  Daughters are precious!  Sue hopes to be at our next lunch in September, but for certain will be there in October.  To send her a card, her address is 864 Greenfield Dr, Mansfield, OH  44904.

David Roberts had skin cancer removed from his nose.  His doc told him he has to wear a hat while outside and when mowing.  Dave said in the next 2-3 months he will join the total knee replacement club, and get his knee done.

I learned today from Marlene Rushay that there is a new Buckeye Lake Winery!  I checked it out on the WEB and the menu is fun and different, and the location overlooks the lake!  It sounds like a great place to go.

Donna and Mike Iden said they will be going to a concert at "Papa Boos" at Buckeye Lake this coming Friday evening.  They have a friend that is in the band.

Donna Frame Swope's Sister Nancy's grandson, Josh, won the ZDGA Crown at the Zanesville Country Club golf tournament!  Way to go Josh!

After sitting and chatting for quite a while, we walked out into the sunshine!

Ah, being young is beautiful, but being old is comfortable.

See you next month at 11:30 on September 10 at the VFW.
