LUNCH BUNCH - AUGUST 9, 2011
We were happy to have 20 classmates at the lunch bunch on this beautiful, sunny, and much cooler day.
It was nice to see Bill Rushay and his wife Marlene from the Columbus area today.
Pat and Jim Burkhart passed around a get well card for Larry Crist, which we all signed. We were sad to learn that Larry has lung and esophageal cancer. Please remember Larry and his family in your prayers as well as Sue and Jerry Richardson, and Marty and Kinsey Tanner.
Sue had blockage of her carotid artery, and after the surgery suffered from blood clots. She had part of her lung removed due to cancer back on November 29, 2010 and we hope that she has a clean recovery from that. We are wishing her well.
Kinsey arrived today because he got a call from Gerald Roberts that he could not make it. Kinsey reported that his wife's ovarian cancer has returned and she is back on chemo. He said she is a fighter, and is doing well. She has had the first two rounds of chemo and was out weeding the strawberry patch today. His orders were to return home as soon as possible since she wanted to use the car.
Kinsey reported that the beautiful vase from Heritage Stoneware of Crooksville, www.HeritageStoneware.com, that was glazed with a hand painted view of our high school on one side and a Blue Devils Icon on the other side has a wooden stand which is completed. The Lunch Bunch group voted and approved the purchase of the vase to give to the new High School for display there and Gerald saw to it that an appropriate wooden stand was made for it to be displayed.
There will be an open house of the new high school in September of this year. The date and time will be announced at the next lunch bunch.
Martha Pettry will be unable to attend the lunch next month since she will be at Myrtle Beach with some of her family. Chuck is in Canada fishing with Roger McGlade, and eight other men this week. We hope they all have a fantastic time.
Bill Rushay and Cornelia led us in the blessing.
The food was delicious, the company fantastic.
Remember that one must wait until evening to see how splendid the day has been.
I hope to see all of you at the September 13, 2011 lunch bunch at the Golden Corral at 11:30. Word has gotten out that the Hales and the Factors will attend our September lunch.
Being young is beautiful, but being old is comfortable.
